Information Security Training Held for Students and Teachers in Masis
From October 29 to November 26, 2025, information security training sessions were held at five schools in Armenia’s Masis Enlarged Community, Ararat 
Province. The sessions brought together 64 teachers and around 300 students from the secondary schools of Sis, Noramarg, Sayat-Nova, Ranchpar, and Marmarashen.
The program was implemented by the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction Foundation (ARNAP), with financial support from UNICEF and the Austrian Development Agency.
The training curriculum was developed by information security experts Haykaz Bagiyan and Narine Khachatryan. It was designed to strengthen participants’ digital literacy, promote safe online practices, and raise awareness of key information security issues.
The program focused on helping students and school staff better understand online risks, learn how to prevent them, and develop the skills needed to respond effectively to potential threats.
As part of the initiative, electronic educational materials on information security were developed for children aged 8–12 and 13–18, as well as for teachers.
The sessions for younger children explored age restrictions on social media, the importance of protecting personal information, cyberbullying and online
harassment, internet addiction, and the risks associated with online gaming. Participants were also introduced to practical tips and basic rules for staying safe online.
The training for teenagers addressed safe social media use, online scams, cyberbullying and online harassment, how misleading information spreads online, conspiracy theories, and fake news.
The sessions also examined how algorithms work and influence the information people see, as well as the potential risks and challenges associated with artificial intelligence.
Teachers took part in sessions on the impact of aggressive and inappropriate content, harmful online behavior, cyberbullying prevention and the importance of reporting incidents, self-harm prevention, and hate speech and its consequences.
The training also covered personal data protection, digital footprints, online scams, internet addiction, persuasive design, net neutrality, fake news, and disinformation.
The training was aimed at strengthening the capacity of school staff and students, increasing awareness of information security, and promoting safe, responsible, and informed behavior online.
The program also included the development of a structured information security curriculum covering contemporary technological risks, prevention mechanisms, and practical protection measures.
A separate educational package was prepared for teachers to support the effective integration of information security topics into the educational process.
In addition to the school-based sessions, one-day training courses on the fundamentals of information security were organized for staff of the Masis Enlarged Community.
The sessions focused on strengthening their knowledge and practical skills in the field of information security.
