Phishing
Phishing (sometimes spelled phising) is a type of online fraud in which attackers send fake emails or messages designed to look as though they come from banks or other trusted organizations. The goal is to trick recipients into revealing sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, account numbers, ATM PINs, or credit card details.
Phishing messages typically direct users to a fraudulent website that closely imitates the visual identity of a legitimate organization in order to collect personal data. Victims are often unaware that they are under attack.
This stolen information is valuable to cybercriminals because it enables them to impersonate victims and carry out fraudulent financial transactions. As a result, victims may suffer serious financial losses or even have their identities stolen for criminal purposes.
