Pharming

Pharming is similar in nature to email phishing but uses a different technique to obtain personal or private information, usually related to finances. Instead of sending malicious emails that trick individuals into visiting fake websites, pharming works by “poisoning” a DNS server. False information is injected into the DNS server, causing users’ requests to be redirected to fraudulent websites. Even though your browser may display the correct website address, you are actually being sent to a spoofed site, making pharming harder to detect than phishing.

While phishing typically targets individuals one at a time through deceptive emails, pharming allows attackers to target large groups simultaneously by manipulating domain name resolution. This makes pharming a more serious and widespread threat, capable of affecting many users at once.
