Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is a form of bullying carried out through internet-based services such as email, chat rooms, discussion forums, social media platforms, and instant messaging. It can also take place through mobile phone technologies, including text messages (SMS), multimedia messaging, and messaging apps.
Cyberbullying may involve sending threatening or abusive messages, spreading rumours, sharing embarrassing images or videos, impersonating someone online, or deliberately excluding individuals from online groups. Unlike traditional bullying, cyberbullying can occur at any time and reach a wide audience very quickly, making it particularly harmful.
Because online content can be difficult to remove once shared, the effects of cyberbullying can be long-lasting. It is important for individuals to protect their privacy, think carefully before posting or sharing content, and report any incidents of cyberbullying to a trusted adult, school authority, service provider, or the platform involved.
